Overview

The Four Aces Guitar Quartet are a Belgian guitar quartet that play classical music. They were one of clients of my Freelance business Pixel Brand. And they were looking for a makeover for their branding and logo and for someone to capture their Plan BE campaign video. I've guided them towards a unified style that combined their four separate visions for FAGQ into one and directed, filmed and edited their campaign video.

The Process

Strategy

To create their identity as a group I gathered the vision of each band member and combined them into one vision they all loved. We also went over the Plan BE campaign strategy and finetuned the story and message for their promo video.

Design

It was a joy designing for a really unique and niche music band. The challenge was to integrate a guitar element in the logo itself per their request. I went straight into illustrator and started tinkering around with a couple ideas. I made a first draft of 6 logos and selected my top 3 to present to them. They didn't pick one from my top 3, their eyes fell on the 4th follow up logo, which was a bit rougher and artistic. From there I further developed their brand identity and designed their BE campaign promo brochure.

videography

The challenge here was to capture the desired atmosphere. The campaign video had to contain a nostalgic hint to an older ad from Belgian TV while still keeping it unique and it's own thing; without copyright infringements. We filmed on several location in the local area, where we picked out the best spots to capture the right atmosphere.

THE OUTCOME

Key Learnings

As a designer we have to be versatile in the styles we create and really listen to the client and their target audience. Creating a brand identity for classical music band was a really unique experience and it has helped me a lot in expanding my creative thinking.

Results

Their campaign was launched with a short delay due to Covid but it helped them to get back on track after the pandamic. Plan BE has been their main campaign for several years after.

Feedback
Aside from the fact that Wouter is a great guy, shows respect for the client, and listens to every request, no matter how big or small, while working within the available budget, it’s his ability to think along and ahead with the goal of achieving the best possible result both in the short and long term that makes him, in our eyes, a true professional.

We are extremely satisfied and proud of the result we received, and all of it was delivered in no time.
This collaboration definitely leaves us wanting more and will certainly be continued.
